Video from the scene shows the moment Alexis began to rush toward the deputy while holding two knives. CBS12 decided to stop the video before the deputy fires at Alexis causing him to fall to the ground.

Deputies then began to give first aid to the suspect before he was transported to Delray Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Alexis told deputies in an interview that he called 911 on himself, then charged at deputies with the large knives so that they would shoot him. Sheriff Ric Bradshaw saidthe suspect told deputies they did not do their jobs because he was still alive.

PBSO says the man tried to kill himself in March, leading deputies to believe this was an attempted suicide by cop.

Alexis was with one count of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of resisting arrest with violence.
