An 18-year-old man is behind bars after police say he carjacked an 81-year-old victim.

According to Port St. Lucie police, police responded to SE Becker Road around 6:23 p.m. on Friday after receiving calls of an armed robbery of an 81-year-old man.

Detectives said the victim was sitting in his car in a Publix parking lot when 18-year-old Reginald Mitchell entered the back seat of the vehicle. Security captures the moment Mitchell entered and sped off in the car.

Mitchell reportedly forced the victim to drive away, threatening him with a gun. Mitchell then forced the victim out of the car in a nearby neighborhood before fleeing in the stolen car.

The victim knocked on a door and asked for a ride back to Publix, where he called 911. Officers issued a BOLO, and shortly after the Stuart Police Department found the vehicle and arrested Mitchell.

Reginald Mitchell was arrested on charges of armed carjacking, robbery with a weapon, and false imprisonment.
