WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) said its Environmental Crimes Unit, Environmental Organizations and Waste Management are seeking the public’s assistance with reporting illegal dumping.
Besides the piles of trash being an eyesore, the sheriff's office said it is a criminal offense that poses significant risks to public health, ecosystems and the overall well-being of others.

The sheriff's office provided photos showing the effects of illegal dumping across the county. Dumping trash on the side of the road can have devastating effects likesoil and wildlife contamination, water pollution and public health.
The sheriff's office says it's important to curb the practice of illegal dumping in order to preservethe environment for future generations.
